Alfred lee kilgas: ALCOHOLIC, Pathological liar, dead beat, and con man
Alfred Lee Kilgas has fooled enough people that I feel it necessary to let people know who he really is.
Alfred Lee Kilgas has fooled enough people that I feel it necessary to let people know who he really is.
Alfred’s road to Open Door Mission was unique in many ways. Growing up in Indiana, he joined the Air Force shortly after graduating high school. After seven years of service, he left the Air Force and developed an impressive career in IT until beginning a successful business of his own. He also became a husband and father. But things suddenly began to change for Alfred after his marriage ended, and he found himself in a deep depression.
Following his divorce, Alfred relied heavily on alcohol to cope with the pain he was feeling. Unfortunately, his depression only deepened, and his reliance on alcohol continued to grow and he became a functioning alcoholic. A DUI stop lead to Alfred’s arrest, triggering a downward spiral that led to homelessness.
Alfred was first introduced to Open Door Mission after finding himself in a VA emergency room, but he didn’t stay.
For the next year, Alfred’s drinking became so bad that he was on the verge of death. By the grace of God, Open Door Mission staff found Alfred alone on the streets and brought him back to receive the help he desperately needed.
Alfred became sober at Open Door Mission, and returned to his career once he felt ready. Though he maintained sobriety for a time, persistent mental health challenges stuck with Alfred, and he eventually relapsed. This time knew exactly where to turn to receive the help he needed.
“Open Door Mission welcomed me back with open arms,” he said. “There was no judgement, they just wanted to make sure that I was okay.”
Alfred has since received treatment for his mental health challenges and is celebrating sobriety with the support of those around him. Now Alfred is happy to move on to the next chapter of his recovery journey. He will soon return to work with a new perspective on his continued sobriety.
“Before Open Door Mission, I never knew how to ask for help with anything,” said Alfred. “This place has saved my life on more than one occasion, and I know they’re always here to keep me on track.”
As he returns to work, Alfred will continue growing in his recovery and giving back to others by regularly volunteering on Open Door Mission’s campus.

Okay Alfred, let us look at these areas that have been highlighted.
1. Alfred graduated high school in 1994. He did go into the Air Force and received an Associates Degree from CCAF (Community College of the Air Force). In 2000 he attended Vatterott where he completed another Associates Degree in 2002. Alfred didn't LEAVE the Air Force, he was honorably discharged due to his psoriasis. Alfred's psoriasis is a medical condition and surfaces with his alcohol abuse issues.
2. If you would like, here is the link to Alfred's LinkedIn page where we can see his education and employment history. Also, why doesn't he list his service in the Air Force on here? Good question!! Maybe because he has lied about his service? Yes, he was in the Air Force, I am not denying that. What I question is his years of service. The Iraqi War was from 2003-2011. Alfred has bragged about his "kills" in Iraq. Alfred never saw war. Alfred was never deployed to a war. Numerous lies have been told by Alfred about what he has done in the Air Force including being a part of a Para-Rescue team in Iraq. Alfred's tries to intimidate people with his STOLEN VALOR stories.

3. How about we address his massive lie about his divorce. Alfred's divorce was caused by Alfred and his alcohol abuse. Alfred on numerous occasions was found drunk, passed out, and soiled in his own bed not caring for his newborn child. Alfred also threatened physical abuse to the mother of his child numerous times when she tried leaving with their newborn child due to Alfred's alcohol abuse. Physically restraining the mother of his child from leaving by pushing her against a wall and punching holes in the wall near her head. Alfred's words to her were. "Over my dead body will you leave this house with my child!" He controlled her bank accounts, friends, employment, as well as communication to her family secluding her and controlling her. I wonder why she left this abusive drunk?
4. After a DUI stop? Which one? Should we discuss the DUI he received after leaving the hospital for taking pills with alcohol leaving his 6 year old child alone and calling for help because "Dad is sick and won't wake up"? It was Alfred's weekend with his son. Alfred called and asked to take his son camping. Alfred was denied and an hour and a half later, Alfred was involved in a single vehicle car accident.
Or the one where he took his roommates vehicle and ran a vehicle off of the road in a road rage incident? Oh by the way, his son was at Alfred's residence when Alfred was taken to jail. Alred's son was taken into CPS custody and later released to his mother.
5. Alfred has not been sober for more than a couple months in the past 10 years. I say 10 years because that is how long I have known him. Alfred has seen his son for a total of 4 weeks over the past 4 years. Not because of civil court rulings, but because of alcohol and being in jail. He was drunk for one week out of the four weeks his son was there.
6. Alfred has not returned to work on a regular basis. If Alfred has, it is all off of the books because he hasn't paid child support on a regular bassis in 4 years. Alfred owes a substantial amount in child support. Might I add he is receiving disability through the state so he has that income.
I will hold the Open Door Mission responsible for not vetting his story before using him as a poster child for their good work in the community. The Open Door Mission is a wonderful organization that helps so many people. I understand that the Open Door Mission is going off of Alfred's "word" and has been duped by Alfred. This shows exactly who Alred Kilgas is. He blatanly lied to an organization that aims to help struggling people who suffer from alcohol abuse, losing a job, or mental issues for his own gain.
Alfred has never admitted to his friends and family that he is an alcoholic. The road to recovery starts with owning your issues. Even in this article, Alfred stated he abused alcohol, but never admitted to being an alcoholic.
